Move In Day Recycling Sets New Record!

Each fall students moving into campus residence halls bring household items ranging from TVs to computers packed in cardboard boxes. For the past six years the UT Recycles program has coordinated collection of cardboard for recycling during fall move-in.
This fall, students, with support from University Housing and the Facilities Services Department, shattered all previous records by recycling more than 13,000 pounds of cardboard over three days. During a typical week on campus more than 4,000 pounds of cardboard is recycled from academic, administrative, athletic, and residential buildings. With the recycling rate up more than 60% from last fall, freshman students are off to a good start Making Orange Green.
